RebeL ARts: students with a cause
Lesson Description: 8th grade students used their interests in various social issues to create an individual artwork on cardboard and then collaborate to create a zine that used art and research. Students showed their progress and final pieces in a gallery walk and talking circle about why these issues are important to them. Students used their laptops and PADLET.com to analyze Shepard Fairey's series " We The People". Students answered questions about theme and concept.

Gallery Walk and Discussion
Students displayed their final artwork and zine along with process sketches and planning sheets to demonstrate their learning. Classmates walked to various tables and read zines followed by a class wide discussion about successes and struggles, and why these issues are important to them.
