EDUC 450: Instruction II, Standards Assessment
Course Description: The purpose of this course is to integrate theories of teaching and learning with actual practices of standards-based education. Expectations including organizing a productive classroom system, planning and organizing lessons that are aligned with standards, using effective questioning strategies to engage learners and promote critical thinking skills, and assessing student work. Throughout the course students will apply their knowledge of classroom theory to actual practice in senior high classrooms. The course will cover the following topics: (1) Standards-based lesson planning and instructional methods; (2) Assessment; (3) Literacy and numeracy in the content areas; (4) Classroom management; (5) Technology; (6) Laws, rules, regulations, and policies that determine educational policy; (7) Professionalism.
